DESCRIPTION:
ABC TILE ADHESIVE is a cement-based adhesive designed for bonding ceramic wall and floor tiles, marble, granite and natural stones on concrete surfaces. Only the highest quality portland cement, natural sand fillers and chemical additives are used. When using ABC TILE ADHESIVE, the thin-bed method is applied for faster and better looking tile installation.

uses:
Prevents tile cracks, bonding failure and efflorescence

  • High adhesive tensile strength
  • Non-sag and high initial adhesiveness
  • Greater workability due to long pot life and open time
  • Applicable in interior and exterior areas
  • Higher productivity per worker per day

surface preparation:
The substrate must be fully cured, structurally stable and level, smooth, clean and free from dirt, dust, loose material, oils, chemicals and other contaminants. Acid etch or abrade to ensure proper bonding.

mixing:
Into a plastic pail containing clean tap water, pour a sufficient quantity of ABC TILE ADHESIVE that may be used within the pot life of 3-4 hrs. 5 kg of ABC TILE ADHESIVE needs approx. 1.5 L of water and 25 kg needs approx. 8 L of water. Stir with a mixing device or by hand. Wait 15 min. and mix again briefly. ABC TILE ADHESIVE is now ready to use. This mix will be usable within 1-2 hrs.
caution: Use only plastic pail or galvanized iron sheet as mixing base. Never use absorbent material such as plywood, wooden box, gypsum board, etc.

application:

  1. Wet the substrate lightly before applying tile adhesive especially during hot and windy conditions.
  2. Spread the adhesive mortar over 1m2 area at a time using a notched trowel (available from ABC or its dealers).
  3. Fix tiles immediately within the adhesive's open time of 15 min. Adjust and align accordingly. Carry out random checks every 5 m2 to determine whether the back of the tiles are fully covered with tile ABC TILE ADHESIVE. Also check if the tile adhesive mortar still adheres to your fingers. If not, remove the adhesive layer and throw away. Do not mix with a newly prepared batch of tile adhesive mortar.

special applications:
For tile installations over non-concrete surfaces, such as existing ceramic tiles, gypsum boards, fiber cement boards, granolithic floors, marble, granite or wood, use ABC TILE ADHESIVE in combination with ABC REDIFIX or ABC TILE ADHESIVE HEAVY-DUTY. Consult your ABC representative or dealer for more information.

do's and don'ts:
Use only clean plastic pail or galvanized iron sheet and other non-absorptive material as mixing base. Use only clean water. Don’t use saline water. Do not mix newly prepared tile adhesive with an old mix to extend pot life. Dampen substrates lightly before applying and spreading tile adhesive especially during hot or windy conditions. For best results, dip tiles lightly in water and stack vertically to remove excess water before installation. Observe the 15 min. open time of ABC TILE ADHESIVE to ensure that tiles are not laid on material that has lost its adhesive power. Use ABC REDIFIX for heavy-duty tile fixing and for tile installation on existing tiles, granolithic floors, marble, plywood, gypsum and fiber cement boards and other non-concrete materials and substrates. Do not damp the whole pail of mixed tile adhesive on the floor. Let the mix remain inside the pail and apply only on a 1-2 m2 area at a time.

safety:
Non-toxic. However, as with any cementitious material, avoid prolonged skin contact.

storage:
Store in a cool dry place. When stored as directed, ABC TILE ADHESIVE will remain usable for a period of one year from date of manufacture.

packaging:
25 kg self-sealing multi-ply paper bag with polyethylene plastic liner

cleaning:
Remove excess mortar on tile face and on tools using clean water.

coverage:
Dependent on substrate conditions 25 kg of ABC TILE ADHESIVE shall cover approx. 5-7 m2.

DESCRIPTION:
REDIFIX is formulated for heavy-duty tile fixing as an additive to ABC TILE ADHESIVE for tile installation on existing floors and other non-concrete substrates. REDIFIX is also suitable as plaster aid. It enhances patching mortar, industrial topping, keying and other masonry works.

advantages:

  • Promotes higher adhesive tensile strength
  • Increases compressive and flexural strengths of mortar mixes without affecting their thixotropy
  • Applicable indoors and outdoors
  • Improves Wet Service abrasion resistance of floors

surface preparation:
For existing marble or granolithic floors, remove wax by using a mild acid solution and wash thoroughly. Also check for the structural soundness of existing floor. Remove loose particles, dirt and grease, form oil and other contaminants that will affect bonding. Abrade paint on walls.

application:
Shake REDIFIX well before use.
When used on Tile-Over-Tile Installation:

The 2-Step preparation method of REDIFIX Primer and REDIFIX-modified ABC TILE ADHESIVE is required for tile installation over old tiles, marble or granite, granolithic floors, fiber cement boards, gypsum boards or any other non-concrete substrates.

Step 1. REDIFIX Primer is prepared by mixing 1L REDIFIX, 1L water and 3kg ABC TILE ADHESIVE. Mix thoroughly and apply using a stiff brush on the existing tile or substrate. Let dry for at least 2-3 hrs. or overnight for best results before any application of tile adhesive can be done. This mixture can cover approximately 9m2.

Step 2. Add ¼L REDIFIX for floor installations and ½L REDIFIX for wall installations to 25kg of ABC TILE ADHESIVE. Apply the REDIFIX-modified ABC TILE ADHESIVE using the recommended size of notched trowel. Take extra care on the open time and pot life.

Refer to ABC TILE ADHESIVE packaging or technical leaflet for proper mixing and application procedures.

When used as a Keying Aid:

Dilute REDIFIX with clean water at a ratio of 1:1. Add 26L of this REDIFIX solution to 40kg of portland cement. Apply immediately using a stiff brush.

Pot life is approx. 45 minutes.

safety:
Avoid eye splash and prolonged skin contact. In case of accidental eye exposure, wash liberally with clean water.

storage:
Store away from heat to avoid deterioration. In its original packaging, REDIFIX remains usable for 12 months from date of manufacture.

packaging:
1L and 4L plastic container

  3. Dampen tile joints with a sponge or brush. Note: Do not allow standing water on areas to be grouted.
  4. Spread paste diagonally across tile joints using a rubber-faced float or squeegee, applying enough pressure to fill joints uniformly.
  5. After 5 minutes when residue begins to form a haze, remove excess grout with a damp sponge using the same diagonal strokes.
  6. Wipe off any remaining residue with a clean, dry and soft cloth. Protect grouted areas by allowing foot traffic only after 24 hours.

COVERAGE:
2kg of grout will cover approximately 8m2 using 30 x 30cm tiles with 3mm joint width. NOTE: The consumption of tile grout might slightly vary depending on the size and thickness of the tile, as well as the joint width.

DO’s & DON’Ts:
As mixing base, only use non-absorptive material such as a plastic pail or galvanized iron sheet. Dampen tile joints using clean water only. Do not use saline water. Never combine newly prepared grout paste with an old mix to extend the pot life. Do not use acid or other harsh chemicals to remove excess grout on tiled surfaces.
